Stephanie Macchi - Composer

Stephanie Macchi (b. 1993) is an Argentine composer from Monte Grande based in Barcelona, where she studied a Bachelor’s Degree in Composition at Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) under the guidance of composers Bernat Vivancos and José Río Pareja.Her works have been premiered both in Latin America and Spain - most notably at Sala São Paulo, with the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Thierry Fischer, at the Colón Theatre with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic conducted by Zoe Zeniodi and at L’Auditori, with the Barcelona Municipal Wind Band conducted by José Pascual Vilaplana.In 2024, she won first prize in the “Latin American Women Composers Competition” organized by the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra in Brazil for her piece “Pampeana”.She has also participated in projects such as "Òperes de Petit Format" where she premiered her chamber opera “ContraTemps”, and collaborated with contemporary music ensembles such as Sonido Extremo Ensemble and CrossingLines Ensemble.Her musical interests centre largely around storytelling and finding ways to sonically depict different extra-musical phenomena merging traditional and contemporary soundworlds.
